Hannah Ernst is an eighteen-year-old college student who currently attends Rutgers University for Psychology. She always had some type of creative outlet, mostly through artistic methods of painting, digital drawing, and sketching. Helping the community is one of the most important values that was instilled in her young, and when COVID-19 swept the nation, she realized she needed to do something. Her grandpa, Cal Schoenfeld, passed from the virus at the beginning of the pandemic which left a devastating hole in her life. Realizing she was part of a larger community of individuals who were left in such unorthodox grief in a time of such uncertainty, she took on a project she now calls "Faces of Covid Victims", an international initiative that worked to memorialize those lost to the virus through digital, uniformed yet personalized portraits that captured a family's lost loved one. To date, FOCV has created over 3,000 memorials, has established an annual, global walk, and gathered over 20,000 families that come together in support, grief, and understanding. If you have a loved one who was lost to Covid-19, the links below will bring you to FOCV's social pages.
